Bold as Love is actually a fairly good book, and one I'd reccomend quite widely. There is some initial exploration of the ideas at least, it's very atmospheric and the narrative is a little less in love with the central characters.
The series as a whole though is (while very addictive) a bit jizz. Particularly during the later 'And then Tori Amos and Spike and Jimmy Hendrix had ANGSTY THREESOME SEX AND BABIES! Even though Tori Amos is so fragile and precious and redheaded and mimble mimble mimble...' phase.

In the interests of adding something a little more positive, it is worth saying that the first couple of Bold as Love books certainly made me want to read more by Jones.
