I finally finished the little blighter.

Beware you dreamers and sensitive souls, for he will nuzzle your brains, and drive you mad!

The least bit of knowledge about his horrendous (acrylic) nature would drive your sanity from our body faster than I can drop a stitch. That said here's the pattern that came to me from no where:
I'm using the US definitions here, as that's what most patterns seem to use.
Key
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
cs = chain stitch
sc2tog = single crochet the next two loops together (decrease)
2sc in next stitch = single crochet then go into the back of the same stitch (increase)
4sc = 4 single crochets
6 * pattern * = repeat "pattern" 6 times
Main Head and Body
Make a loop of 4 stitches.
* 4sc, 2sc in next st * until the round is 28 stitches
(This gives you a conical top to the head)

Mouth Tentacles
9 * pick up a stitch from the middle of the "chin" and make a chain between 4 and 7 stitches long. *
Angry Eyebrows
Pick up a stitch at the top left of the "face", pass the wool through a stitch at the bottom center, then pass through a stitch on the top right. Pass through this V shape a couple of times. Then loop the yarn, round and round the legs of the V before tying it off.
Sew on buttons under "eyebrows".
Diddy Arm
Make a loop of 6 stitches.

This should give you a flat piece that looks something like a capital B. Roll the top of the wing around a pipe cleaner (I didn't have one handy so used a cocktail straw), and sew closed. Then sew the middle of the wing on to the back top of the body.
