I finished both of my first projects last week.

First up here's a case for a Card Game I like.

It changes from stocking stitch to garter stitch halfway through when I figured out what I was doing wrong with purling. It's just about the right size though :)

Lessons learned. Vertical button holes are not easily doable.

Gerkin Pencil Case

This one started out as just a swatch to practice on the small circular needles I'd bought so I could knit on the underground without poking people. Also airport security confiscated the straight ones I'd try to take with me. Next flight I go on, I'm knitting on pencils.

Then I thought I might as well try something more complicated, and started trying a braid. When it was about 6 rows long I realised it was the right width to make a pencil case for my doodle pens.

Finally here's a doodle of what I think the back of the Cthulhu hat and scarf will look like once it's done.

I tried about three or four time to start the Cthulhu hat at the weekend, from the top down. But despite a rather useful video on small diameter circular knitting (Thanks Nikki) I couldn't get the hang of it.

I think I'm going to have to start with a larger tube just to practice. I've got no idea what to make though. I suppose I could just make a little pouch to keep the random foreign currency I've got on my desk in. Hmm.
