Geek credentials

I was reminded of this last night. My latest stake in the ground in an ongoing competition to out-geek Jono from my last job.

I was sitting cross legged, while volunteering at the art show, at a science fiction convention, watching a youtube video on my mobile phone, which demonstrated a double crotchet stitch, as I'd got stuck while crotcheting a Lovecraftian monster, that I'd designed myself.

Why do I find the idea of crocheting a Chthulu rather more beguiling than solving my MIIS problems, I wonder?

Not sure, but I'm clearly finding it more intriguing than work, and the madness is spreading. I just asked a mailing list full of PhDs to help me tidy up that cone bit. They've turned it into:

24 * 4sc, sc 2 in next sc *

or

11 x RND: * 4sc, sc 2 in next st * (carrying excess into next round)

p.s. What is an MIIS?
