On LiveJournaling

One of the things I remember from school English lessons, is write to your audience. Tailor the tone, content, and level of assumed background knowledge accordingly. The problem is, I don't have an audience in mind for this blog, so I don't really think I've found my "voice".
Primarily, I'm not writing it for myself. I've never kept a diary. While I would like to have some sort of a record to look back on what I've been up to in the past, left to myself I'd just take loads of photos.
So therefore I must be writing this in the hope that someone out there reads it. That's certainly true for the linkdumps I post. These roughly translate as "something interesting I saw". But those are probably the least interesting entries.
I guess it's a case of "Mokney see, monkey do". I enjoy reading blogs, end up thinking I could do that.
I was going to say that not many of my friends blog, but that's not true. In the circles I move in, there are few bloggers in each. But I couldn't name linkback to most people I hang out with. Certainly a lot of them don't read this. So I'm not really writing this for my them. At the same time I'm not exactly focused on writing this to appeal to a mass-market.
Part of it's probably a reaction to the way I read webcomics. I see a link, or a comment, I sometimes click on it, and read back a couple of entries. If I like what I see, I add it to my trawl. I hope that others do the same, like what they see here, and stay. Obviously other people don't feel the same, since there are a few people with f-locked only posts.
I f-lock as little as possible (since at least three people who read this without livejournal), but since I don't usually write in any detail about myself, this isn't a problem.
In conclusion: I'm not really sure what the purpose of this is, or who I'm doing it for.

So what should I write next?
  • An alcohol themed linkdump.
  • An entry describing the pseudo science on one of the lines in this comic, and why it may make sense
  • Another introspective entry titled: "My entire moral foundation is based on vague memories of Saved by the Bell".
  • The first entry of my live blogging Dr No.
I'd turn this into a poll, but I don't want to pay for LJ, and think it would be wrong to upgrade to a ad-supported account, and use an ad blocker.
{addendum}
  • A review of Lord of the Rings the musical.

I say you should write about whatever you want to write about - but then that's imposing my own logic behind LJ onto others I suppose.

I write about sleep deprivation :)

FWIW you do have a voice; I can recognize your posts most of the time before looking at the attached username. You're also on my must-read filter, which I use in extreme circumstances, like if I've been away for 2 weeks and can't face the resulting 1500-2000 posts I've missed. So you must be doing something right/interesting.

Anything alcohol themed would be a bonus
