Social notworking.

The start of a new year is usually a time for reflection, and resolutions, so I'll have a quick think out loud about internet based entrainment, and social networks, and how I use them.

To be brutally honest, here's my priority as interpreted by own behaviour in the last couple of months of the year:

1) Reading Email
2) Reading and commenting on Catch-up LJ filter
3) Reading Webcomics
4&5) Reading, and Writing, on the Join Me Forum
6) Writing Emails
7) Reading non-LJ blogs, flickr, etc. via RSS reader.
8&9) Reading, and Writing on Twitter
10) Reading and commenting LJ unfiltered
11) Writing (Uploading) photos to Facebook
12) Writing Posts for LJ
13) Reading Facebook
Below the threshold) Writing decent replies to fanzines, writing reviews small press comics, writing a fanzine, other forums, ravelry, librarything, etc.

These priorities are influenced by my varying levels of enthusiasm (10 and 5 swapped places at some point towards the end of the year), and the fact that at the moment I seem to have more internet time in my lunch break, than I do at home.

I'd like to change this to:
*) Reading Email
*) Writing Emails
*) Reading and commenting on Catch-up LJ filter
*) Reading, and Writing, on the Join Me Forum
*) Writing Posts for LJ
*) (Potentially) Writing on a Google Wave
*) Reading non-LJ blogs, flickr, etc. via RSS reader
*) Reading Webcomics
*) Reading LJ unfiltered
*) Reading, and Writing on Twitter
*) Writing (Uploading) photos to Facebook
*) Writing (New and read books) to Librarything
*) Writing addresses in one place, rather than scattered across programs (in progress)
*) Writing decent replies to fanzines
*) Writing reviews of small press comics
*) Writing (backlog of new books) to Librarything
*) Reading Facebook
*) Writing a fanzine
Below the threshold) other forums, ravelry, etc.

With that in mind, my first resolution step is going to be to move all my personal emails into a folder called Inbox2, and try not to do anything else each morning until the Inbox is empty. And had a quick foray back into Inbox2 and make sure everything in there is eventually archived, or dealt with. Then to re-organise my bookmarks to remind me of that order.

Nice to see writing a fanzine on the list.

It's good to prioritise - harder to stck to it.
